New Managers Are Not Ready to Lead [Infographic]
In the first quarter of 2015 Millennials became the biggest demographic in the American workforce. The oldest Millennials are 36 now – head towards 40. GenX is so much smaller than GenY that it was inevitable that we would end up with a younger demographic pushing into management in large numbers. Many of them are having to move into management without enough training.
Before you jump on the Millennial bashing wagon – yes it’s fun and even popular to do, but really ineffective – please note that most managers have learned on the job in times past. The difference now is that the business world is moving SO MUCH FASTER that companies MUST prepare their new managers for them to be successful. There just isn’t time to let them learn by failing.
